These fine cutlery and utensil boxes were built as a commission work for a seasonal summer restaurant in Turku, Finland.
Started from a scratch with acquiring some raw walnut planks which were used to build the sides and the removable middle plates. Bottom was also made from raw plank but fine Finnish birch wood.
There were several different phases to get the wood from raw planks to a right kind of length, width and thickness from which it was then possible to move ahead and start making the sides and bottom parts.
I really enjoyed making these boxes and I truly like the contrast with these two wood species and how greatly and beautifully they work together.
What do you think? :)
